Cooperative Weed Management Area Trainings - Apr 23 and Apr 24, 2013

The Mid-Atlantic Invasive Plant Council is offering two opportunties to learn how to establish, manage and fund a Cooperative Weed Management Area or Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area or similar organization for the purpose of removing invasive plants and restoring natural habitats. Presentations by people who have successfully developed and implemented CWMA type groups will be followed by discussion of the challenges and rewards of these efforts. Trainings are free but registration is required.

IPM3 -- Integrated Pest Managment Education - 2013 Courses
IPM3 is a consortium of federal agencies and land-grant institiutions dedicated to the efficient and timely delivery of practical integrated pest information to individuals responsible for developing and implementing Integrated Pest Management. IPM3 provides a Web-based, distance delivery opportunity for people interested in IPM to become proficient in the principles and application of IPM. Increasing the quality and consistency of IPM training among Federal agencies and their adoption of an IPM approach for invasive species management will certainly help minimize harm to the environment, to human health, and to wildlife.
Note: Between now and Jun 30, 2013, all IPM3 course can be customized to meet your individual needs (start/stop dates), instead of fixed course dates. Beginning July 2013, IPM3 will be ending its current 33% tuition discount program.

North American Invasive Plant Ecology and Management Short Course Webinar Series

Future dates: Nov, Feb, and May with topics to be announced.
A new webinar series on topics related to invasive plants is beginning Aug 2012 and is being offered by organizers of the NAIPSC. The webinar series will feature speakers conducting research, working on projects, or involved in activities related to invasive plant species. The webinar series is designed to inform participants who are actively involved in invasive plant management, research, and/or policy and provide an online venue for sharing resources, ideas, and information. Signing up for the webinar series is more than just hearing speakers; participants will also have access to the discussion forum, information and technique updates, and unique networking opportunities. The NAIPSC's Adobe Connect chat room, a real-time online meeting place, will be available to share documents, ideas, and presentations.

Herbicide Resistant Weeds Training Modules / Press Release - Weed Science Society of America Launches Free Training Program on the Causes and Management of Herbicide Resistance in Weeds (Sep 27, 2011)
WSSA is introducing a free training program designed to educate pesticide applicators, growers, agrichemical retailers, farm consultants and other stakeholders on herbicide resistance in weeds -- a costly problem that threatens crop production across the U.S. and around the globe. The training is a peer reviewed, five-module program available as Web-based training, PowerPoint slides or video. WSSA plans to work with grower organizations, government agencies and others to disseminate the materials, with a special emphasis on reaching growers and agrichemical retailers. WSSA is also exploring continuing education credits for those who complete the courses.
