California
Invasive Species Council Announced at World
Ag Expo (Feb 10, 2009) and Establishing
the Invasive Species Council (PDF | 29 KB)
California Department of Food and Agriculture.
California officials today announced a coordinated effort to prevent and control harmful invasive species infestations throughout the state. The California Invasive Species Council will assist in minimizing the negative effects of non-native species on the state's agriculture, lands, natural resources, and waterways in rural and urban environments.

Oklahoma Invasive Plant Council
The Oklahoma Invasive Plant Council was created at the 2008 Oklahoma Invasive Plant Conference on Jul 24. The new council will provide: identification and documentation of invasive plants and their
distributions; recognition of invasive plant problems with possible resolution; establishing early detection and rapid response mechanisms.

Federal Interagency Committee on Invasive Terrestrial
Animals and Pathogens
ITAP is the Federal Interagency Committee on Invasive Terrestrial Animals and Pathogens. ITAP's mission is to support and facilitate more efficient networking and sharing of technical information for program planning and coordination among Federal Agencies and Departments involved with invasive species research and management. ITAP focuses on several major taxonomic groups of invasive species for which improved technical coordination is essential to facilitate effective Federal responses. ITAP's mission parallels and complements the missions of the Federal Interagency Committee for the Management of Noxious and Exotic Weeds and the Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force.

Texas on Jun 2, 2008. The
TIPPC was founded to promote awareness
of the impact of invasive species in Texas,

pests statewide.

Don't
Move Firewood
The "Don't Move Firewood" website was developed by members of the Continental Dialogue on Non-Native Forest Insects and Diseases with the goal of abating the threat to North American forests from the human-mediated movement of non-native insects and diseases. The website is an unusual medium for this kind of conservation goal, and we hope to reach a wide audience of firewood users - especially the young people that our polling shows are most likely to carry firewood with them. The website is owned by The Nature Conservancy as part of its efforts to support the actions of the Continental Dialogue.
