intends to issue a sole source Grant Agreement to
Walker River Irrigation District. The purpose of
this agreement is to provide funding to the Walker
River Irrigation District for weed control and water gauge improvement.
These activities will allow improved management of water resources
in the Walker River Basin (Nevada), thereby providing benefits to
the general public in the basin.

Invasive
Species Control and Management - CNWR-2009-03 (open Jul

The principal purpose of this agreement is to restore native habitat
within the historic floodplain of the Lower Colorado River. All restoration
efforts (cleaning, clearing, planting) that occur have a profound
benefit to the wildlife resources occurring in desert uplands and
along the riparian corridor adjacent to the Lower Colorado River.
Restored sites will mimic historic cottonwood-willow gallery forests,
supplement available habitat for threatened and endangered species,
and reduce invasive exotic plant distribution.

full-time Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Project Coordinator position

Nuisance Species Task Force.

the public that NOAA’s National
Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, Center for Sponsored
Coastal Ocean Research is soliciting proposals for projects
of 2 to 5 years in duration that advance understanding,
prediction, and management of the causes and ecological
and economic impacts of hypoxia in representative
coastal ecosystems, under the Coastal
Hypoxia Research Program (CHRP).
Funding is contingent
upon the availability of Fiscal Year 2010 Federal
appropriations. It is anticipated that final recommendations
for funding under this announcement will be made
by early Calendar Year 2010, and that projects
funded under this announcement will have an Aug
1, 2010 start date.
